

The SOME +3 EPGG Fora were held on 28-30 September 2020 via online platform, hosted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) of Cambodia and attended by ASEAN Senior Officials on Energy (SOE) Leaders, SOME + 3 Leaders from China, Japan and Korea, ASEAN Secretariat, ASCOPE, ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).
The fora included following dialogue, forum: the 9th ASEAN +3 Oil Market and Natural Gas Forum and Business Dialogue, the 8th Workshop of the ASEAN +3 Oil Stockpiling Roadmap (OSRM) and the 17th ASEAN+3 Energy Security Forum (ESF).
The 9th ASEAN+3 Oil Market and Natural Gas Forum and Business Dialogue was chaired by Mr. Victor Jona , Director General of General Department of Energy, Ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia with Dr. Tran Hong Nam, ASCOPE Secretary – in –charge as Co-chair. The forum acknowledged updates on oil and gas business in ASEAN member States from Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam, Ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia, Lao State Fuel Company, Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), PETRONAS, Singapore LNG Corporation, PTT Public Company Limited, Petrovietnam…
At the Forum, Mr. Paramate Hoisungwan, Chairman of Policy Research and Capability Building Task Force made presentation on ASCOPE’s studies on Small-Scale LNG and LNG Bunkering. These studies will promote the application of LNG as a clean fuel to support the growth of ASEAN’s economy.
Participating at the 8th workshop of ASEAN+3 Oil Stockpiling Roadmap (OSRM), on behalf of ASCOPE, ASCOPE Secretary – in –charge delivered presentation on the future of ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement (APSA) which will expire in March, 2023. APSA’s objective is to enhance petroleum security, either individually or collectively, and minimize exposure to an emergency situation, through the implementation of short, medium and long term measures provided in APSA.

ASCOPE participated in the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy MeetingFrom 17-20 November 2020, Secretary-In-Charge Dr. Tran Hong Nam has represented ASCOPE at the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting and Associated Meetings (38th AMEM) via online platform hosted by Viet Nam. With the theme “Energy transition towards sustainable development”, it is expected that ASEAN member states would closely cooperate together to build up a sustainable energy sector in ASEAN.
