ASCOPE, in Collaboration with Partners, Launches the Methane Management Roadmap for Oil and Gas in ASEAN

On 13 June 2025, the ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE), in partnership with the Global Flaring and Methane Reduction (GFMR) Partnership of the World Bank and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), officially launched the Methane Management Roadmap for Oil and Gas in ASEAN. The launch marked a significant regional milestone in strengthening collective efforts to address methane emissions within the oil and gas sector.

The event convened a wide range of stakeholders, including industry leaders, technical experts, policymakers, and regional institutions, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on practical and scalable approaches to methane mitigation. Key dialogues focused on improving methane measurement and monitoring, deploying emission reduction technologies, and enhancing regional collaboration to support sustainable energy development.

Through the introduction of this roadmap, ASCOPE and its partners reaffirm their shared commitment to accelerating methane reduction initiatives, supporting energy security, and contributing to ASEAN’s broader energy transition agenda. Together, these collaborative efforts aim to drive meaningful progress towards a lower-carbon and more sustainable energy future for the ASEAN region.
