On 14th June 2021, ASCOPE Secretary-In-Charge Dr. Tran Hong Nam on behalf of ten (10) ASCOPE members participated at the 39th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy chaired by the Ministry of Energy, Brunei Darussalam via online platform.
ASCOPE Secretary-In-Charge Dr. Tran Hong Nam reported on updated status of annual priorities of Trans ASEAN Gas Pipeline Program (TAGP) under ASEAN Action Plan on Energy (APAEC) Phase 2 (2021-2025) which was endorsed by the 38th ASEAN Energy Ministers Meeting (AMEM) last year.
It is noteworthy that in 2021, ASCOPE’s gas advocacy communication plans were set to be one of the annual priorities under ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025.
The communication plan targets to raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of natural gas within the region's energy mix to promote gas advocacy for clean energy usage in the region. The platform and format of the communication plans will be determined subject to Covid-19 pandemic’s situation.
The meeting appreciated update as well as the gas advocacy communication plans from ASCOPE, which will be further developed for presentation at the 39th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) to be held virtually in September 2021.
