The 8th ASCOPE Mid-Year Task Force Meeting and its associated sessions, hosted by Pertamina, were successfully held from May 27 to 30, 2024, at The Patra Bali Resorts and Villa, Indonesia. During the meeting, the ASCOPE Secretariat and Task Force Chairpersons provided updates on their progress in line with the Key Performance Indicators established by the ASCOPE Council. Highlights from the discussions in both individual and joint task force meetings are summarized below:
Exploration and Production Task Force
- Finalization of the ASEAN Decommissioning Guidelines (ADG) Book and promotion of the methane emission program.
- Advancement of E&P technologies (Enhanced Oil Recovery/Improved Oil Recovery) and collaboration through field trips.
Gas Advocacy Task Force
- Implementation of Action Plans in accordance with the annual milestones of the Trans-ASEAN Gas Pipeline Program (TAGP) - APAEC Phase II.
- Feedback from the Gas Advocacy Task Force on the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Post-2025 Framework.
Clean Energy Task Force
- Fostering business-building collaborations among ASCOPE members through dialogues and sharing sessions on initiatives such as the carbon business, National Hydrogen Strategy, and Bio-methane/LNG projects.
- Close collaboration with ACE to ensure the successful delivery of Phase 1 of the ASEAN Low-carbon Energy Technologies Roadmap (ALERT).
Policy, Research, and Capability Building Task Force
- Implementation of the ASCOPE Capacity Building Program (ALDP - ASCOPE Learning Development Program).
- Conducting studies, initiating collaborations, and sharing experiences in energy transformation among ASCOPE member countries.
The joint meeting was chaired by Dr. Tran Hong Nam, the current ASCOPE Secretary-in-Charge, and accompanied by Henricus Herwin, the incoming ASCOPE Secretary-in-Charge. The chair acknowledged the constructive feedback from delegates, emphasizing the importance of collaboration within ASCOPE to drive progress forward.
