In conjunction with the 49th ASCOPE Council Meeting 2024, held at the Petronas Leadership Center, a significant milestone was achieved with the launch of the ASEAN Energy Sector Methane Leadership Program 2.0 (MLP 2.0) on 2 October 2024. This launch marks a pivotal step forward in advancing methane emissions reduction efforts across the ASEAN region.

Under the theme “Turning Capacity into Action,” MLP 2.0 builds on the success of the inaugural Methane Leadership Program, which ran from June 2023 to October 2024. The next phase of the program is designed to strengthen collaboration between companies and governments, while driving collective regional initiatives aimed at reducing methane emissions.
