On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Policy, Research, and Capability Building Task Force (PRCBTF) Meeting was held in a series of events at the 49th ASCOPE Council Meeting. The event was held at Petronas Leadership Center in Selangor, Malaysia.

The meeting discussed the previous meeting at the 8th ASCOPE Mid-Year Task Force Meeting, progress, and plans for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) 2025. The PRCBTF meeting was chaired by Mrs. Nur Fadillah Mior Sharifuddin, chairman of the PRCBTF, and was attended by PRCBTF members from other ASCOPE countries.

 

 

This meeting discusses PRCBTF KPIs:

  1. Conduct a Study and Initiate Collaboration
  2. Implementing ASCOPE Capacity Building Program (ALDP-ASCOPE Learning Development Program)
  3. Sharing of experience in energy transformation among ASCOPE member countries
  4. Sharing Updates on Digital Transformation in ASCOPE Member Countries
  5. Sharing experience and promoting cooperation

This meeting discusses PRCBTF Work Plan 2025:

  1. Conduct a Study and Initiate Collaboration
    1. Stranded Gas
    2. Carbon Utilization
    3. Carbon Capturing
    4. Multiple Topics with USTDA
    5. Amendment on Cross Border CCS Policy:
      • Transportation, Storage, & Process
      • Carbon Market (offsetting)
      • Legal Framework
  2. Implementation and collaboration in technical development Inter ASEAN CCS/CCUS Policy
  3. Implementing ASCOPE Capacity Building Program (ALDP-ASCOPE Learning Development Program)
    1. Technical Specification & Standards with CLDP 2.2 Site Visit: Carbon Capture
    2. Market & Utilization: Small and Stranded Gas
    3. Optimizing Flare & Methane Reduction with LNGnet
    4. Methane Capability Building with USAID 3. Sharing of experience in energy transformation among ASCOPE member countries
  4. Sharing Updates on Digital Transformation in ASCOPE Member Countries
  5. Sharing experience and promoting cooperation
    1. Conducting policy, research, and capability-building programs on training and workshops on upstream research (e.g. carbon credit and carbon capture utilization and storage, unconventional resources), downstream research, new and renewable resources, project investment, legal, and technical or operation aspects.
